Below are the state legislative priorities for the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce and South Central Kentucky as determined by the Chamber Board of Directors and the Legislative Action Committee. - Approve legislation for the betterment of Western Kentucky University and Bowling Green Technical College for the economic benefit of Kentucky and the South Central Kentucky Region.
- Reduce the cost of public construction projects in Kentucky by significantly reforming prevailing wage requirements.
- Approve right-to-work legislation in Kentucky to improve the Commonwealth’s ability to compete for business with other states in the region.
- Approve funding of public facility, utility, and infrastructure projects that benefit the South Central Kentucky Region.
- Approve funding of public facility, utility, and infrastructure projects that benefit the South Central Kentucky Region:
- Infrastructure projects designated by the BRADD Water Management Council as the 2009 Overall Project Priorities for Warren County (20 projects)
- Continue widening of I-65 to 6 lanes between Glasgow and Elizabethtown.
- Construction of the Natcher Parkway Extension between I-65 and Scottsville Road.
- Construction of the Connector Road between I-65 and US 31W in Warren County.
- Construction of additional road and utility infrastructure in the Kentucky Transpark.
- Providing initial operating funds for the Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center in Bowling Green.
