SCK Job Fair And Business Exhibition

Page Title

South Central Kentucky Job Fair & Business ExhibitionThe South Central Kentucky (SCK) Job Fair & Business Exhibition is a collaborative effort among Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Hart, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Simpson and Warren counties and the Southern Kentucky Society of Human Resource Management. Representatives from leading businesses and industries from the surrounding South Central Kentucky region will be present to speak with community members and potential job-seekers.

This event is both beneficial to businesses and job-seekers. Businesses have a chance to showcase their products or services while recruiting new employees. Job-seekers have the ability to meet multiple employers at one central location, utilizing their job hunting time to its fullest potential.

Award-Winning Event

The first annual event in 2006 was recognized by the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Executives (KCCE), a not-for-profit division of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, as best special event. Aaron Cox, Executive Director of KCCE, said, “We’re impressed by the commitment that the South Central Kentucky region demonstrates to provide all of its residents with access to jobs. The event last year brought so many opportunities for residents and businesses alike, and we’re confident that this year’s event will be just as prosperous.”

2007 Event Attracts Hundreds 2007 Job Fair Winner

The second annual South Central Kentucky Job Fair & Business Exhibition was a success on August 21 at Greenwood Mall. About 500 participants registered, and Chamber staff estimates that hundreds more jobseekers, shoppers and passersby participated in the event. With 65 industries and businesses represented at the booths, participants were able to talk to recruiters from across the 10-county region about employment opportunities.

Registrants submitted a survey to be included in a grand prize drawing at the Job Fair & Business Exhibition. Audrey Middleton (second from left in photo) of Bowling Green won a $300 gift certificate to Greenwood Mall. She received her award from Beverly Woodward, representative for BRADD (left); Dan Preston, Vice President of Economic Development at the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce; and Manon Pardue, representative for Southern Kentucky Society for Human Resource Management.

The Chamber thanks the Barren River Area Development District and the Southern Kentucky Society for Human Resource Management for co-sponsoring the event and Greenwood Mall for being an excellent host, as well as all media outlets for publicizing the Job Fair & Business Exhibition to the region.
