A Note from James N. Hizer, CEcD, Chamber President & CEO
Over 3 weeks have passed since the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce was named by ACCE as the 2009 national Chamber of the Year. Yesterday, we held our official celebration with our partnership. We are still pinching ourselves—what an amazing honor. It was almost surreal hearing our name called at the Awards Banquet!
Yesterday, several of our past chairs offered toasts and words of congratulation, during our celebration reception. It was a reminder that the Bowling Green Area Chamber has been such a strong organization for so many years. It is gratifying to see that all of our volunteers, both past and present, are receiving the national recognition they so richly deserve. I wish all of those individuals, who have made the Chamber such a special organization over the years, could have joined us on the stage when we received our award. This honor belongs to all of you.
It is important that we capitalize on this opportunity as a Chamber and as a community. We will spend the next 12 months telling the world that there is no other Chamber in the country quite like the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce.

On August 19th, The Scottsville-Allen County officials announced their participation in an economic development program to help communities be better prepared for economic growth. TVA Economic Development in cooperation with local power company, Tri-County Electric Membership Corporation, is offering the pilot community preparedness program.
"We are pleased to work with Scottsville-Allen County's community leaders to offer this pilot economic development program,” said John Bradley, TVA Senior Vice President of Economic Development. "This will help the community be better prepared for growth and potential job opportunities." Its objectives include work to move forward with Allen County's strategic plan, identify available land and buildings, foster the community's charitable and entrepreneurial spirit, and continue to improve educational opportunities for career and industry trades.
Tri-County Electric, TVA, state and local entities will assist the Scottsville-Allen County Industrial Authority with a variety of resources to accomplish these objectives.

Now Is the Time to Save!
By Phil Brooks Jr., Owner
With the Federal Government focused so much on using less energy in our country, now is the time to buy new vinyl windows with energy efficient glass. If you purchase our “Tax Credit Solarzone Glass Package” with our famous $189 window you qualify for a tax credit* of 30% of the cost of the windows up to $1,500. Our Tax Credit-Compliant window (ETC Window) features Low-E glass, Argon gas between the glass and foam-enhanced vinyl frames.
We also guarantee a 35% reduction in Fuel Consumption when you replace all your windows with our ETC Windows. As a practical example I replaced the windows in our home 3 years ago, and the biggest thing we noticed is where we set the thermostat in the winter. We used to set it at 75° and now we set it between 68° and 70°. Even on the coldest days (and we had plenty) we didn’t have to set it above 70°. And we didn’t have to wear jackets or use blankets. It saved a tremendous amount of money in gas.
*Please consult your accountant or other tax professional for advice related to specific tax benefits or purchasing energy efficient windows.
